posted 7 years agoHi, in order for Ghostery to block trackers and ads, it needs to be able to detect and take action on elements of a web page as you browse. We do not record sensitive information(including login credentials as you browse), record browsing history, or disclose user data. Note that despite the prompt being new, Ghostery is not introducing any new permissions with the update. You can read about this in greater detail on our FAQ page, here: https://www.ghostery.com/faqs/why-am-i-being-prompted-to-approve-an-update-from-ghostery/
We are also open source, which you can view here: https://github.com/ghostery/ghostery-extension

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 14925253, 3 hours agoWorks really well; I forget that it's even there, until I use the web on another computer that doesn't have Ghostery, and see the mess of annoying ads that I have been spared. Highly recommend!

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18308918, 20 hours agoGhostery is one of my core companions for web browsing and greatly accelerates and cleans my experience so that I get done quickly what i want to get done, whether it is taking a break from work or just getting work done. I deeply appreciate the work that the Ghostery team does and when i can support them in other ways I very likely will.
I am someone who despises ads, they are intrusive and disruptive and annoying and irrelevant at all times. If i want something, i will find it. I do not need advertisements. I am data driven so I don't need to be spammed with an assortment of offers at all times, I need the data that should be readily available by any competent merchant so that I can self-educate about their product and decide whether I can benefit from it or not. Ghostery is an excellent aid to this effect, that instead of being harassed I can peacefully traverse the internet and find what I need or want without a constant barrage of subconscious-targeting noise. - Rated 5 out of 5by 3.1415926, 20 hours agoKinda spoils me.
I mainly use FF, but occasionally use other browsers (mostly Chrome/Chromium & Brave). When I switch to an other browser, I realize how much junk Ghostery is removing from FF. - Rated 5 out of 5by Ch3fUlrich, 20 hours ago
