Sydecko Kiosk — Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-08-01
Sydecko Kiosk is a browser extension that turns a browser into a fullscreen kiosk display for a Sydecko digital signage screen. This policy covers the extension only — not the Sydecko dashboard or player web application it launches, which are covered by Sydecko's own privacy policy.
Data the extension collects
None. The extension does not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data, browsing history, or usage analytics, and makes no network requests of its own.
Data the extension stores
The extension stores exactly three values, locally on the device, using the browser's built-in storage.local API:
Player URL — the signage player link you paste into the extension popup.
Keep screen awake — whether the Screen Wake Lock feature is enabled.
Auto-launch on browser start — whether the kiosk window should reopen automatically.
This data never leaves the device. It is not synced to any account, sent to any server (including Sydecko's own), or accessible to any other extension or website. Uninstalling the extension deletes it.
What the extension does
Opens the player URL you provide in a dedicated fullscreen window.
Optionally keeps the display awake via the standard Web navigator.wakeLock API while that window is open.
Optionally relaunches that window automatically if it's closed or the browser restarts.
Why the extension requests broad host permissions
The extension requests permission to open tabs/windows on any URL (<all_urls>) because the player URL is whatever address you paste in — Sydecko is self-hostable, so that address is not a fixed, known-in-advance domain. This permission is used only to open the one URL you configured; the extension does not read, modify, or inject anything into any other page or site.
