by Teagan, 3 years agoI would like to give this Add-On more then 2 1/2 stars (which is what I selected but it's showing 3 starts). In general, it does seem to work with some flaws. For me, my biggest issue, or what annoys me about all add-ons, is that they will always slow down your browser and CanvasBlocker is no exception to this. It does slow down my browser quite a bit, but I suppose that can vary from user to user depending on what you've selected as its settings. So don't be surprised if it does slow down your browser.
If you are using the Privacy Badger Add-On, expect the Add-On's to conflict with each other a lot, or from time to time. Depending on the type of internet user you are (or Netizen); if you are normally intimidated by what seems to be a complicated Add-On with lots of options to select, or you don't know what DOMRect, webGL, or APIs means, don't let that discourage, or prevent you from using it. Take your time to read how to use this extension (Add-On) and you should be good.

I notice much better performance when I disable notifications for DOMRect: https://github.com/kkapsner/CanvasBlocker/discussions/638#discussioncomment-5313863

If you stay on one of the 2 lowest settings you can increase your anonymity dramatically on the web without breaking functionality, so you can surf the web pretty much like everyone else without even noticing it while still staying hard to identify if you for example combine this with VPN. This alone will help but its one of several other key plugins you should install to shield yourself against tracking on the web.
- Rated 5 out of 5by Lilith D. Bracken, 6 months agoGreat privacy-focused extension that helps protect against fingerprinting. It blocks or fakes the data that websites use to track your device without your consent. I like that you can customize how strict it is for each site, so if something breaks, it’s easy to adjust. It runs quietly in the background and doesn’t slow things down. A must-have for anyone who cares about online privacy and wants more control over what sites can learn about their system.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Edgar Almeida, 7 months agoSeems to work, if you test it at browserleaks(dot)com / canvas with the plugin on, keeps giving new signatures at each refresh, if you turn the plugin off, the signature will remain the same

- Rated 5 out of 5by Zertrax, 7 months agoWorks very well. If you want to test this addon whether it works or not, just visit the page which is mentioned in the description. (for example: browserleaks website)
It's just a shame that I only recently discovered canvas fingerprinting, even though it's been around for so long. Keep your privacy up folks.
