About this extension
FRED (Fraud Recognition & Easy Detection) scans your emails and web pages for fraud, phishing, and scams using AI — then explains exactly what it found in plain English.
--- HOW IT WORKS ---
Open a suspicious email in Gmail, Outlook, or Yahoo Mail. FRED automatically scans it and shows a color-coded badge right in your inbox:
• Green — Safe Zone, nothing to worry about
• Orange — Be Careful, suspicious elements detected
• Red — Likely a Scam, do not engage
Click the badge for a full breakdown: threat rating, detailed explanation, and a list of every red flag FRED caught.
--- AUTOMATIC EMAIL SCANNING ---
With FRED Premium, emails are scanned automatically when you open them — no clicks required. A badge appears on each email so you can see at a glance whether it's safe. Works across Gmail, Outlook, and Yahoo Mail.
Free users can scan any email manually by clicking "Scan This Email" in the popup.
--- WEB PAGE SCANNING ---
Landed on a suspicious website? Click the FRED icon and hit "Scan This Page" to analyze it for fraud signals, fake checkout forms, and phishing indicators.
--- WHAT FRED CATCHES ---
• Phishing emails impersonating banks, shipping companies, and tech support
• Fake invoices and payment requests
• Gift card scams and advance-fee fraud
• Spoofed sender addresses and lookalike domains
• Urgency and pressure tactics designed to make you act before you think
• Suspicious links that hide where they actually go
--- SCAN HISTORY ---
Your last 20 analyses are saved locally in a card layout with type labels (Email/Website), threat icons, and color-coded status so you can revisit past results at a glance.
--- PLANS ---
Free — 10 scans per month, manual scanning only, no account needed.
FRED Pro ($3.99/mo) — 300 scans per month, automatic email scanning, enhanced AI accuracy.
FRED Family ($7.99/mo) — Everything in Pro for up to 5 devices.
