About this extension
Interlude, a pause with God, before the sites that pull you away

Interlude is a gentle Firefox add-on that pauses you with a short Bible verse before the websites you choose: Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Amazon, the news, or anywhere else you tend to lose time without meaning to. It's not a website blocker. It's an interruption, a few quiet seconds with Scripture and a real choice about whether to keep going.

If you've ever opened an app "just to check one thing" and looked up twenty minutes later, Interlude is built for that exact moment: the second before the scroll starts.

WHY INSTALL INTERLUDE

Most blockers work by force: a countdown, a locked schedule, a wall you can't get past. Interlude works differently. It never permanently locks you out of anything. It interrupts, once, with something worth reading, and trusts you to make the next call. That's a better fit for anyone who's tried a hard blocker before and found that being locked out just meant switching devices instead of actually pausing to think.

It's also private by default. No account, no server, no analytics of any kind. Everything stays on your device.

WHAT YOU GET

A short, relevant Bible verse before each site you've added, chosen to fit the kind of site it is.
A brief retype step to continue, turning a reflex tap into an actual decision.
Reflect: an optional, completely private one line journal prompt during a pause.
Redeem the time: copy an encouraging message to send to someone instead of continuing to the site.
Voluntary fasts: put a site off limits for a chosen stretch (a few days, forty days, until a holiday, or your own custom range), with no easy one click way out once it's started.
A private weekly and yearly summary of your pauses and fasts. No streaks, no guilt, just your own week reflected back to you.
A shareable stats card, if you ever want to post or send it.
Adjustable pause screen text size, and optional support in Private Browsing windows.

WHO IT'S FOR

Christians building a devotional habit into ordinary browsing, families wanting a screen time nudge that isn't punitive, students trying to stay focused, or anyone who wants less of their day disappearing into a feed without meaning to.

SCRIPTURE, HANDLED CAREFULLY

Every verse comes from the World English Bible (WEB), a free, modern English translation, never mixed with others. Verses are bundled with the extension itself, so nothing is fetched from a live server while you browse.

PRIVACY, BY DESIGN

There's no account, no sign up, and no server behind Interlude. Every site you add, every pause, every reflection you write, all of it stays in Firefox's own local storage on your device. Uninstalling the extension deletes everything it ever stored. Interlude also never asks for broad access to your browsing: adding a site triggers a one time Firefox prompt for that domain only, and it only ever runs on sites you've explicitly approved.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Is Interlude free? Yes. No subscription, no purchases, no ads.

Does it block sites completely? No, except during a fast you start yourself, which only ends on its date or by your own typed confirmation.

Does it work in Private Browsing? Only if you turn it on yourself at about:addons, Interlude, and set "Run in Private Windows" to allowed. Off by default, like every extension.

Does Interlude collect or sell my data? No. Everything stays local to your device.

Can I use it for more than social media? Yes. Add any site: shopping, video, news, dating apps, or your own custom category.

A quiet interruption, not another notification. Interlude only ever shows up at the one moment that matters: right before you open the site you asked it to watch.
