Kirtis — žodžių kirčiavimas by fftrap

Lithuanian stress is not predictable from spelling, and it moves between forms of the same word. Checking it usually means opening a separate tab and retyping the word with its diacritics. Kirtis removes that step.

Select a word on any page. A small button appears next to it, and one click shows the stressed spelling together with the part of speech and grammatical tags. If you prefer, the result can appear immediately on selection instead, with no button at all.

WHAT YOU GET

• The accented spelling, ready to copy with a click
• Part of speech and grammatical tags, each with a tooltip spelling out the full term
• Identical spellings merged into one block, so four grammatical forms with two stress patterns read as two results, not four rows
• A toolbar popup for typing a word directly
• A right-click menu entry and an Alt+K shortcut

SETTINGS

• Interface in English, Lithuanian or Russian, independent of your browser language
• Button on selection, or the result straight away
• Button position: at the cursor, above the start of the word, or after its end, plus manual offsets — useful if another extension puts its own button in the same spot
• Latin script only, so the button stays out of the way when you select text in other alphabets
• Minimum word length, and a list of sites where the extension stays quiet
• Local cache with a button to clear it

PRIVACY

The word you select is sent to kirtis.info to be looked up. Nothing else leaves your browser: no analytics, no telemetry, no third-party scripts, no account. Answers are cached locally for 30 days, so repeating a word costs no request at all. Both the cache and your settings can be wiped from the settings page.

ABOUT THE DATA

Accentuation comes from kirtis.info, a free service run by UAB Sistemium, who confirmed by email that they are happy for this extension to use their API. At their request every request carries an identifying User-Agent so they can recognise this traffic in their logs.
