Marchito is built on a simple principle: your data is yours and never leaves your browser.

Data it handles

Marchito stores locally in your browser (storage.local) only:
- Settings you choose (active platforms, modes, decay seconds, the "trigger journal").
- A count of short videos seen per day and platform (a number; never which video you watched).
- The "trigger" category you pick when answering (boredom, anxiety, avoidance, reflex) — only the category and date, never the content consumed.

Data it does NOT handle

• It does not collect personal information (name, email, location, identifiers).
• It does not log which videos, accounts or searches you view.
• It does not use cookies, trackers or analytics.
• It does not send any data to its own or third-party servers. Marchito has no servers.

Data transmission

None. All processing happens on your device. The extension makes no network requests to send or receive usage data.

Permissions

• storage: save your settings and the count locally.
• Access to youtube.com, instagram.com, tiktok.com, facebook.com, x.com/twitter.com: only to show the decay effect and count short videos on those pages. No other site is accessed.

Control of your data

You can export or delete all your data anytime from the popup ("Export data" / "Delete all"). Uninstalling the extension removes the local data with it.
