Marie de' Medici Solitaire by Dmytro M
A grid of 36 playing cards is displayed on screen, which can be freely rearranged by drag and drop. A built-in collapse algorithm scans the layout for matching pairs and animates that step by step. The interface adapts to the browser's language.

About this extension
Marie de' Medici Solitaire is a reflective card-layout tool inspired by the divination traditions of Renaissance Europe, designed as a lightweight Firefox extension. The deck consists of 36 cards — ranks six through ace in the suits of Spades, Clubs, Diamonds, and Hearts — each assigned a distinct symbolic meaning. Spades represent willpower and force; Clubs, the routines of everyday life; Diamonds, material interest and curiosity; Hearts, the emotional world of love, friendship, and feeling. The face cards and numbered ranks carry their own layer of meaning: the Ace stands for fate and uncontrollable events, the King for law and external constraints, the Queen for other people, the Jack for your own intentions, and the numbered cards for specific modes of action, from journeys and absorptions to results and exchanges.
The core interaction is intuitive: cards are displayed in a 9 × 4 grid and can be freely repositioned by drag and drop. The player places three chosen cards — a personal card, a key card, and a target card — in specific positions, then arranges the rest into a coherent pattern. A dedicated algorithm, triggered by the Check button, scans the layout for pairs of cards separated by one position that share a rank or suit, collapses them with a brief animation, and repeats until no further reductions are possible. The state of the layout at the moment of collapse is recorded as a compact notation string for reference.
The extension is built with plain HTML, CSS, and JavaScript — no external dependencies, no network requests, no data collection. All card imagery is rendered as inline SVG. The interface detects the browser's locale and displays all labels, card names, and interpretive texts in English, Russian, Ukrainian, or Polish. Version 5.0.0.
