At My AI Impact, your privacy is our top priority. We designed this extension from the ground up to calculate environmental impact without compromising your personal data.

1. Data We Do NOT Collect
   No Conversation Content: We never read, collect, store, or transmit the text of your conversations with ChatGPT or any other AI tool.
   No Personal Identifiers: We do not require you to create an account, log in, or provide your name or email.
   No Tracking: We do not use third-party trackers, analytics pixels, or ad networks.
2. Data We DO Collect
   To provide global statistics and synchronize your usage across devices (if enabled), we securely transmit the following minimal data to our backend infrastructure (aiimpact.strancer.com):

Token Counts: We calculate the number of tokens in your prompts and responses locally on your device. Only the numerical token count and the resulting environmental impact estimates (energy, water, carbon) are synced.
Anonymous User ID: We generate a random, anonymous UUID on your device to aggregate your environmental stats over time.
Basic Geo-Location (Temporary): When your extension syncs with our servers, we briefly check your IP address to determine your general region (e.g., country or state) to use accurate local energy grid emission factors. Your IP address is immediately discarded and never stored in our databases.
3. How We Use Your Data
To Calculate Impact: Token counts and regional grid data are used entirely to calculate accurate Carbon, Water, and Energy estimates.
Global Aggregation: Your anonymous environmental impact scores are added to our global, anonymized statistics to show the total awareness generated by all users.
4. Data Storage and Security
Local Storage First: All detailed metrics are stored locally on your device within your browser.
Secure Transmission: Any data synced to our servers is encrypted in transit using industry-standard HTTPS/SSL.
5. Changes to This Privacy Policy
If we make any significant changes to how we handle data, we will update this policy and prominently notify users within the extension.
