A beautiful new tab for your bookmarks. Fast search, clean cards, and a Pokemon set into every one.

About this extension
PokeMarks replaces your new tab with a fast, searchable collection of bookmark cards. Gotta save 'em all.
Your bookmarks are the content. The cards are the interface. And set into every card is a Pokemon, chosen automatically from the address itself.
WHAT IT DOES
• Every new tab opens straight onto your bookmarks. No popup, no loading spinner, no dashboard.
• Search everything instantly - press / and type. Titles, addresses, descriptions, categories, Pokemon names and their types.
• A responsive card grid that adapts from one column to four as the window changes.
• Hide the search bar and the filter row entirely if you want nothing but bookmarks - / still summons search.
• Customize holds how it looks - theme, team, artwork, motion. Settings holds how it works. Neither is a wall of options.
• Ten built-in categories plus any you invent, and favourites, with one-click filtering.
• Rename, merge or delete categories from Settings. Deleting one never deletes a bookmark.
• Sort by recently added, recently opened, most used, alphabetically, or your own order.
• Import your existing browser bookmarks - folders become categories, duplicates are detected.
• Export everything to JSON whenever you want - a real backup, including your manual order. It is your data.
• A dark theme built for a wall of artwork, and a dimmed light theme that is not an inversion of it.
• Drag cards into whatever order you want, or nudge them with Alt and an arrow key. The grid slides rather than jumping.
• Choose whether links open in a new tab, and whether every tab starts on your favourites.
• Cards fade in as the grid draws. Nothing loops, nothing moves while you are not looking - and you can turn it off.
• Pick Mystic, Valor or Instinct and the whole interface takes your team's colour.
THE POKEMON PART
Each bookmark is matched to one of the 1025 Pokemon by hashing its address, so the same site always shows the same Pokemon, and keeps it across updates. Nothing to pick, nothing to configure - though if you keep a small hand-picked set of bookmarks, one setting lets you choose the Pokemon yourself.
The Pokemon appears whole and in colour, set into the card surface rather than given a panel of its own - so the card stays the size a bookmark card should be. Every title carries a halo of card colour, which is what lets the artwork run underneath at full strength without costing you a single word of legibility.
Catch one you have never had before and PokeMarks names it. In the popup the silhouette resolves into the real thing; on the new tab the card lands and the toast reads "Caught Gengar!".
POKEDEX
All 1025, browsed one region at a time from Kanto to Paldea. The ones you have caught show their artwork, types and save count. The rest are numbered silhouettes waiting to be filled in. It opens on your collection, and each region tab shows how much of it you have filled.
There is no XP, no levels, no battles, no streaks and no daily rewards. Saving bookmarks fills the Pokedex in; that is the whole mechanic. It is a bookmark manager with a personality, not a game.
Prefer it quieter? Customize offers Full (default), Soft and Off.
PRIVATE BY CONSTRUCTION
• No account. No login. No server.
• Clearing your data clears your bookmarks, not your preferences. Your theme and team survive it.
• Your bookmarks are stored in chrome.storage.local and are never transmitted anywhere.
• No analytics, no telemetry, no advertising, no tracking.
• Site icons: PokeMarks draws a letter from the domain rather than fetching an icon. Firefox offers no local favicon service to extensions, and asking each site for its own icon would tell those sites which bookmarks you opened a new tab on. It does not do that.
• No content scripts and no host permissions. PokeMarks cannot see the pages you browse.
• Works fully offline.
The only request PokeMarks makes is for Pokemon artwork, keyed by a number from 1 to 1025, to a single host. It contains nothing about you, and it is cached after the first fetch.
FREE, AND STAYING THAT WAY
No ads. No premium tier. No subscription. There is nothing in the extension capable of charging you.
