  1. Privacy Policy
    Your privacy is important to us. This section describes how we collect, use, store, and protect your personal information.
    9.1 Data We Collect
    Account Data: Name, email address, and authentication information collected during registration via AWS Cognito.
    Profile & Resume Data: Your resume content, work history, skills, education, and other information you voluntarily provide.
    Job Extraction Data: Job posting details (title, description, requirements) extracted from job sites when you use the browser extension.
    Usage Analytics: Feature usage counts (e.g., number of tailorings, autofills) stored in our backend to enforce subscription limits and improve the product.
    Technical Data: Browser type, operating system, IP address, and error logs (via Sentry) for debugging and security purposes.
    Payment Data: Payment card information is processed exclusively by Stripe. We do not store your full card details on our servers.
    9.2 How We Store Your Data
    Your resume and profile data is stored in two places: (1) locally on your device in IndexedDB (browser storage) for fast, offline-capable access, and (2) in the cloud via AWS DynamoDB when you use profile sync features. Cloud storage is encrypted at rest and in transit.
    9.3 AI Processing
    When you use AI features (resume tailoring, cover letter generation, autofill), relevant portions of your resume and job posting data are transmitted to third-party AI providers (e.g., DeepSeek, OpenAI, Google Gemini, Anthropic Claude) to generate results. These providers have their own privacy policies and data processing terms. We transmit only the minimum data necessary and do not send sensitive identifiers (such as your email address) to AI providers.
    9.4 How We Use Your Data
    To provide, operate, and improve the Service.
    To enforce subscription usage limits.
    To send you important service notices and product updates.
    To debug errors and ensure platform security.
    To comply with legal obligations.
    We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
    9.5 Cookies
    We use essential cookies and local storage to maintain your session and preferences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. You may disable cookies in your browser settings, but this may affect the functionality of the Service.
    9.6 Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)
    Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate data; request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten"); object to or restrict certain processing; and data portability. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@resumifyai.com. We will respond within 30 days.
    9.7 Data Retention
    We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law (e.g., billing records may be retained for up to 7 years).
