Who we are
Slingshot is a browser extension that lets you navigate the web using keyboard shortcuts. This policy explains what data the extension collects, why, and how it is handled.
What we collect
Slingshot collects a small amount of anonymous usage data to understand how the extension is being used and to improve it over time.
Anonymous installation ID
When you install Slingshot, a random ID (a UUID) is generated on your device and stored locally. This ID has no connection to your name, email address, browser account, or any other identifying information. It exists only to distinguish one anonymous installation from another so that usage trends can be measured correctly.
Anonymous usage statistics
Once per day, Slingshot sends a small report to our servers containing:
- Which shortcut categories you used (e.g. search engines, AI sites) — recorded as counts, never as the actual queries you typed
- Which optional features are enabled or disabled in your settings (e.g. the Enter/Shift+Enter swap toggle)
- The date the report covers
That is the complete list. Slingshot does not collect or transmit:
- Your search queries or the content of anything you type
- The URLs you visit
- Your browsing history
- Your IP address (beyond what is technically required for any internet connection)
- Any information that could identify you as a person
Where data goes
Usage reports are sent to a private database hosted on Supabase, a third-party infrastructure provider. Data is stored on servers in the United States. Supabase's own privacy policy applies to their handling of that infrastructure.
We do not sell, share, or license this data to any other third party.
What is stored on your device
Slingshot stores your personal settings (your shortcuts, theme preference, feature toggles, and license key if applicable) locally on your device using the browser's built-in storage. This data never leaves your device except to sync across your own browsers if you are signed into a browser sync account — in that case it is handled entirely by your browser's own sync service (e.g. Chrome Sync), not by us.
Your choices
If you prefer not to send anonymous usage data, you can disable telemetry in the Slingshot settings page. No functionality is affected if you do this.
Children
Slingshot does not knowingly collect any data from children under the age of 13.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to what data is collected, we will update the date at the top of this page and note the change in the extension's release notes.
