Topiary — Privacy Policy
Last updated 24 August 2026. Topiary is operated by Zento Mirai.
THE SHORT VERSION
Topiary stores the bookmarks you save so it can organise and search them for you. We do not sell your data, we do not show advertising, and we do not track you across other websites. You can delete your account and everything in it at any time, from inside the app.
WHAT WE COLLECT
- Your email address, to create and sign you into your account.
- The bookmarks you save — the web address, the page title and description, and the date you saved it.
- The readable text of pages you save. When you save a bookmark we fetch that page and keep an extract of its text, so that Pro subscribers can search inside their saved pages and so the page can be filed accurately. We do not fetch pages you have not saved.
- Your tag tree, including any changes you make to it.
- When you last opened each bookmark. We record the date and time you open one of your own saved links, so that Topiary can later offer to resurface things you have forgotten and tidy away what has gone stale. This is a single date on your own bookmark. It is not a history of your browsing: we only ever see the links you saved yourself, and only when you open one from inside Topiary.
- Counts of how much you have used — number of bookmarks and automatic filings this month — purely to apply plan limits.
- Your subscription status, so we know whether you have Pro.
WHAT WE DO NOT COLLECT
We do not use analytics or crash-reporting services. We do not have advertising or tracking pixels. We do not read your browsing history — the browser extension can only see the page you are on at the moment you click Save, and only then.
WHO ELSE PROCESSES YOUR DATA
- Supabase hosts our database and handles sign-in. Your bookmarks are stored there.
- Anthropic receives the title, description, address and a text excerpt of a page in order to decide where it belongs in your tag tree. Anthropic does not use data submitted through its API to train its models.
- RevenueCat, together with Apple or Google, processes subscriptions. We never see or store your card details.
We do not sell or rent your data to anyone, and we do not share it for advertising.
THE BROWSER EXTENSION
The extension asks for these permissions, and none of them lets it watch you browse. activeTab lets it read the address and title of the page you are on, only at the moment you press Save or use the right-click menu. storage keeps you signed in between uses. contextMenus adds the two right-click items that let you save without opening the popup. The last is access to Topiary’s own server, scoped to that one address, so the extension cannot reach any other site. It does not run on pages you have not asked it to save, and it does not monitor your browsing.
KEEPING AND DELETING YOUR DATA
We keep your data for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account from Settings inside the app, or from the web app at usetopiary.app. Deletion is immediate and permanent: your bookmarks, saved page text, tag tree and account record are removed. It cannot be undone, and we cannot recover it for you.
Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription bought through Apple or Google — cancel that in your App Store or Google Play account settings.
YOUR RIGHTS
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or erase your personal information. The app already provides access and erasure directly; for anything else, email us and we will respond.
CHILDREN
Topiary is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
CHANGES
If we change how we handle your data, we will update this page and the date at the top. Material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect.
