- Rated 1 out of 5by Rich, 11 hours agoWhen the extension was Version 9.x, it was wonderful! It worked as advertised, first time - every time. When the developer(s) upgraded the extension to Version 10.x, it became hit or miss as to when the extension would work. I now spend more time rerunning the extension to upload a movie or TV program and each time I get different results. I would dearly love to get Version 9.x back ... any improvements made by Version 10.x have been lost due to its functional inconsistency. When I sent emails, I was told that the problem is at my end and the extension works. (Were that so!) Please tell me how I can restore the extension to Version 9.x and I will upgrade my review. BTW, I am using Windows 10 and running the extension on FireFox.
- Rated 1 out of 5by bunr, 21 hours agoI made a mozilla profile just to write this review. Puts a humongous watermark (easily 1/6th of the whole screen) on videos downloaded from youtube only and calls it "ensuring funding" and of course doesn't inform you of this anywhere before you actually use it.
To remove it, they want you to pay 20 bucks for what they advertise as a "lifetime license" that is of course valid until they decide this project isn't worth their time anymore, then your money is just oops gone. even the "privacy first" types are now making their programs worse to try and make you fork over your credit card. - Rated 1 out of 5by ps,, 3 days agoThe extension is a disaster. It worked perfectly for years and then in early 2026 they changed it. Every page has like 50 sources for a download, you can't tell which one is which, and almost none of them produce a working file.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 19822341, 6 days agoVideo DownloadHelper no longer downloads the audio with the video.
At the beginning of March 2026 it was a hit or miss on if it would find the HLS feed which would include the audio but now at the end of March it never finds the HLS feed just only the M3U8 feed and that doesn't download the audio. - Rated 1 out of 5by DRG, 6 days agoWorked great for years, now suddenly, doesn't work at all. A $30 lifetime prompt with zero guarantees it will work in the future. Here's how it works, $30 bucks later and they switch off the lights and run off to Somalia with the dirty cash. NOPE. Take a sales course. You'll thank me later.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Adam, 7 days agoI used to use this with no problems but today I downloaded about 8 videos I needed to use to make a documentary and I found out it put a huge QR code over the top of every video I dowlonaded making them unusable. So it seems they've now made this extension absolute trash and I've uninstalled it and have to delete these videos and now download them again using youtube to mp4 online. Absolute waste of my time.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Ev1M4chine, 7 days agoNO way to contact the author for bug reports or questions. (Try it.) NO way to configure where it actually stores the downloaded data before it’s copied to the target directory. (Can’t watch the partial download while it’s downloading, for example.) Just does the same thing yt-dlp does with a shittier dumbed-down-to-the-max interface (almost completely unconfigurable and powerless). What is even the point of this? Is this a Windows computer illiterate thing I’m too brain-using to understand?
- Rated 1 out of 5by KnOwlEdge, 7 days agoWhile in the past you could choose ANY folder in your PC as download folder for this app, since a while it forces you to choose either the default Windows Downloads folder or a subfolder of it.
And contrarily to the past, it also COMPLETELY bypasses the Firefox setting to "ask every time", i.e. even if you have this option active in the Firefox settings, while you use this app there is no popup to choose where to download.
There's the option "Download as" but that too, the lazy dev didn't even noticed that there's a but that lets the download start immediately without any popup. You have to stop the download and there it opens the popup.
MENTAL!!!
For me 10001% USELESS as of now, and I VERY DEEPLY resent the dev for this. SHAME ON YOU!!! - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 19813524, 10 days agoStarted slapping a giant QR code on top of every download, became useless

Good luck to everyone - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 17194981, 18 days agoIt was one of my favorite apps until the last update. Now it's crashing almost all the time and with youtube it's just useless trying it because it's working one time every several tries. I wonder why they touch things that work to damage them.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Albert, 20 days agoIt worked wonderfully. But then I made the mistake of purchasing the upgrade, and now, most of the videos on youtube are not even recognized by the app. If you want to keep using it, use the free version. But don't waste your money by "upgrading", you will be really disappointed.

- Rated 1 out of 5by Manila-D, a month agoSimply put it doesn't work. I tried it today (March 11th) and wasn't able to download anything...
UPDATE: I tried it again today (March 17th) and wasn't able to download anything...
So it's easy to conclude it's still not working...
I checked with (2) friends in the US who bought the paid version and they tell me it's not working either as of (March 17th) today...
No way would I pay (what is it) $30 for a downloader that isn't working... - Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 19778500, a month ago
