it wont pick up mp4 files in many sites it use to work perfectly before the update

The latest version running in Firefox Quantum (57) no longer detects videos playing on many sites - the icon stays greyed out :(

Great app if 60% of all videos did not require a paid companion app to go along with it.

best video downloader ive used, been using this app for years. everything i download is free, i don't know what these other people are talking about the companion app. i use the free version and it works perfectly. quick updates. 5 stars!
edit: having problems since firefox update? download older versions of both firefox and videodownloadhelper, seems to do the trick

I have tried this addon for Youtube. It works for 720p videos. But to download 1080p video, you need a separate companion app. Because for 1080p, Youtube uses separate streaming for audio and video. But to download 1080p without any watermark, you need license. Otherwise, you will see a large QR code image in your downloaded video. It should be clearly specified in the addon description.

I used to love this add-on, but since the upgrade for Firefox 57 it's completely useless to me. Don't think much of the Firefox upgrade either.

I created this account to rate this atrocious parasite of an extension. It's useless unless you pay 18.50€. It puts a huge watermark over all videos. It abuses the spirit of open source and sells the hard work of ffmpeg developers for an absolutely horrendous price. I hope the scammers who publish this extension will get banned from the Firefox extension site as soon as possible. Please report this extension as fraudulent so we can stop this kind of abuse.

Didn't install this "companion" app, but 720p videos are now downloading in weird generic "file" extensions. Gotta convert them manually. If this watermark talk is real... Well, sayonara!
