- Rated 4 out of 5by Firefox user 19947022, 4 days agoThe bad thing about protonvpn free is that it assigns you a server based on your IP. Proton may be collaborating with authorities. Something we don't know internally, and they can already know your IP. So when you connect you are assigned to a free server but what you don't know who is connected to that server can be you alone or with other people. Another thing is that it uses VPS, dedicated servers are in England, we all know that England is an ally of the United States so draw your conclusions. What I don't understand is why one cannot choose which server to use and not that the system itself assigned me based on its preferences.

posted 2 days agoThe default Connect option will connect you to the fastest available server for you. This leads to better load balancing and higher speed, which is a priority for free users. That said, you still have the option to change server, or you can upgrade to connect to a specific server in a country of your choice.
All of the Proton VPN servers use static IP addresses, which means that the same IP address is shared between all users connected to the server, and the IP address is the same all the time for that particular server, unless the server itself is changed. However, this does not apply to the free and Secure Core servers, which are selected from a pool of servers in order to balance out the load. As for dedicated IPs, we support multiple other countries: https://proton.me/support/dedicated-server-locations.
Lastly, we're not collaborating with any authorities whatsoever. If you'd like to assure yourself of Proton VPN's trustworthiness, navigate to https://protonvpn.com/blog/is-protonvpn-trustworthy for more details. We have a strict no-logs policy protected by Swiss law, and we are open-source and undergo regular third-party audits of our services. Developer response

I'd love it if they added a feature to turn on for specific websites.

posted 7 days agoThank you for the feedback. Does the issue perhaps occur after rebooting your device, or restarting your browser? Are you receiving any error messages? Do you have the auto-connect feature enabled? Which browser version and Proton VPN extension version do you have installed? Please contact us at https://protonvpn.com/support/contact so we can help you troubleshoot. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 12780740, 8 days agoWorks almost perfectly. A killp-switch would be necessary. Thanks Proton Team!

- Rated 5 out of 5by FeSi, 13 days agoI am very happy with the extension as it automatically connects without any problem. During my nearly 1 year use I never had a problem in any way.
- Rated 3 out of 5by Ce@p2g77L#W, 14 days agoIt does its job. Reliable. Not greedy, the free version is quite good.
However, there are some problems specific to Firefox.
There are regular connection problems.
-It always says there's a problem connecting your account, but your account connects (this isn't a huge problem, it's just confusing for some).
-Sometimes it connects and then disconnects after a split second. You have to wait a bit. (Meh, okay, but it's still a problem)
-Sometimes it doesn't connect automatically (this is a minor issue if you've pinned it to the top right, but it's very annoying)
-Loses the browser permissions?? You have to delete the add-on regularly and re-grant the requested permissions. (This is what's frustrating because the necessity of this can be forgotten.)
At least I experience these problems in both Windows and Cachy.Developer response
posted 14 days agoThank you for your feedback. Which Firefox version and Proton VPN extension version do you have installed exactly? Are you receiving any error messages? Do you have any other extensions installed for privacy/security purposes? Are you using any antivirus, firewall, or device optimization software? Contact us at https://protonvpn.com/support/contact with more details so we can investigate the issues further and help you troubleshoot. - Rated 1 out of 5by Overlord69, 15 days agoI can't tell what's currently going on but starting since today I can't use the addon anymore. Every time I try to connect to a server the whole browser freezes and if I wait long enough, it crashes. I have to open Firefox in troubleshooting mode and remove the addon, because as soon as I enable it it tries to connect to a server and the browser freezes.
