by HellPhantom, 5 months agoGreat and very Useful plugin Thanks. I would give it a 5 if I did not need to take 2 steps to get to my Default Goto engine.
I don't like that I need 2 steps in the context menu to get to what my default engine is. I wish I could set a default engine to use and when I click on "Search by Image" option on the main context option it would use the default I set, but when you hover, the sub menu opens like now and you can choose another engine. I would love to drop the second step. It feels if I use this a thousand times a day and now it is 2000 because of second step. :-)
Brilliant Add-on, I love that we have an option of X reverse engines all in one 10 out of 10 for that. So sad about the old Google reverse image lookup no longer working. I am also using "Image Max URL" Add-on now and I can highly recommend this one also, wonderful for finding larger or better images of you image.

posted 5 months agoI'm glad you like the extension! Extensions can only add a single top-level context menu item, but you could disable the rest of the search engines from the extension's options to search with your preferred engine from the context menu, without having to open a submenu. The drawback is that the "Open image" tool would no longer be accessible from the context menu and the browser toolbar.
If you have more than one engine enabled, and you would like to initiate a search with all of them from a top-level context menu item, you could also set the "Search all engines" option to "From context menu". That way the rest of the features would still remain accessible from the browser toolbar popup.
The legacy Google service is still available in the extension, now listed as Google Images (deprecated), but it only works for some users, you can enable it from the extension's options. People in the EU have had some luck restoring access to the service by using a Google account and following this guide: https://github.com/dessant/search-by-image/issues/309.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 19806246, 2 months agoIt offers greater ease of searching for content without leaving the Firefox browser. Everything within this great tool gives you a superior search and innovation experience. However, I have a suggestion: adding image translation capabilities, whether for manga or comics, to make it an even more powerful tool. Thank you.

- Rated 3 out of 5by CM, 2 months agoI appreciate the functionality and convenience of this add-on, but I have a major concern regarding its use of Russian search engines. The Russian Federation is an aggressor state that launched a war against Ukraine, and its search engines are known to share users' data with state security services. In the settings, there is a "Yandex Host" option that cannot be removed, which effectively forces users to rely on infrastructure from a hostile and untrustworthy jurisdiction.
Using search engines from a country that is actively waging war against another European country is incompatible with basic European values and solidarity. While the add-on is otherwise convenient and effective, this design choice prevents me from giving it a rating higher than 3 stars. I strongly encourage the developer to remove Russian search providers or make them fully optional (disabled by default). - Rated 5 out of 5by tl, 3 months ago
