by Firefox user 12396291, 8 years agoI've been using the Video DownloadHelper for quite a number of years and have found it to be a really useful extension. The way it works is if you are viewing a video on a website that does not have a facility to download the video to your hard drive, the VDH extension will allow you to do this, it will allow you to specify where you want to save it (which folder) and will allow you to specify a pernonalised name for the video that you are saving.
The only downside I found is that you only get told, after the fact, that you should install a secondary extension to be able to save the video. After the installation, and after your first attempt to download a video, you get a prompt to add a secondary, accompanying extension which allows you to save your files effectively. That's just a minor annoyance which quickly dissipates once you learn how useful this extension can be. It will even allow you to download a Youtube video with options of varying quality.

- The downloading functionality is perfectly successful and works excellently. However, the system generates multiple identical files with the same names, making it impossible to know which one I should actually download.
This is extremely frustrating, and the issue still hasn't been resolved. Please fix this problem. While there are no issues with the actual downloading process, I cannot distinguish between files when I try to download a video.
The file organization is very confusing:
1. The thumbnails or preview images are identical.
2. The filenames are exactly the same as the original file I'm trying to download.
3. It is unclear which file is which.
This is a major issue. Please address this and fix it as soon as possible. - Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 18658935, 2 days ago

Some copyright guarded links are not downloaded but there is an infobox shown, so this isn't a technical issue. Great extension, worth the price!
