- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 13557054, 9 years agoPersonally, I love this add-on. Video DownloadHelper is by far the best video downloader I ever use. Save YT video in 720HD mp4 with the correct name

- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13109865, 9 years agoТребует установки конвертатора, когда он априори не нужен, и потом требовать купить лицензию.
Requires the installation of a converter, when it is not needed a priori, and then demand to buy a license. - Rated 3 out of 5by Firefox user 13478998, 9 years ago

С уважением Владимир. - Rated 1 out of 5by nickclarkson, 9 years agoLike all recent reveiews say, this USED to be a great addon. Now it doesn't do anything without a "companion app". It needs too many permissions for my liking too. Used to be a 5-star addon, now if I could rate it 0 I would. Uninstalled.
- Rated 2 out of 5by Firefox user 13553682, 9 years agoIt was very good but it cannot be used anymore for videos since it's always asking me to install some companion application. In the end it wasn't useful because it didn't even redirect me to the companion application mentioned..
- Rated 2 out of 5by DJAC Productions, 9 years agoYou need an extra program to make it work.It put a huge QR Code filigram (310x310px) in the video you download. The download takes very long. The licence costs a lot. This add-on was good before FF57.

- Rated 5 out of 5by Firefox user 12649780, 9 years agoGreat download software practically all type of files. I have been using it for more than 3 years and its simply awesome. Have recommended it to all firends family members and students.
- Rated 2 out of 5by Firefox user 13552170, 9 years agoSorry devs, this was the best product, but now i see how many permissions they want I would advise everyone to stop using it. They want info from ALL apps and even clipboard. They need to cut back on security risk behaviour and i would give them 5 stars again.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Karl , 9 years agoContains hidden fees. First they take you to their website and make you install an external application, then when you try to use it, it sends you to their website again and says you have to buy the add-on.
- Rated 1 out of 5by Firefox user 13551861, 9 years agoVideo DownloadHelper was a great tool for me to preserve the videos I like. It's was awesome!
Unfortunately, it's now asking users to install companion app so that it can combine unwanted QR codes with the video that users are trying to download. Even worse, the re-encoding process proceeded by the companion app needs much CPU resources to deal with, and for sure users are not willing to watch this happens.
Goodbye, VDH. - Rated 1 out of 5by Tungstie, 9 years agoThis used to be a great add-on, now it's a spam engine that will nag you with an unwanted tab every time you open firefox - whether it be for a 0.0.1 update, or a reminder to download the "optional" companion app required to save 90% of the video resolutions and formats that used to be free
I can't really recommend you to try another add-on doing the same thing, since there is none at the moment on firefox quantum... but the moment someone with a bit of time on their hands develops an alternative, just *ditch* downloadhelper - it had its heyday, but now it's just an annoying piece of spamming nagware.
And just to be clear: i don't fault the author for requesting donations, that's perfectly fair... it's the method he's using to bully people into handing over cash that make me want to grab a bucket and lean over it
My recommendation: disable video downloadhelper, and only enable it when you really need to try grabbing a vid
