VT Context Scanner only sends data when the user explicitly chooses “Scan Link with VirusTotal” from Firefox’s right-click menu.

Data transmitted:
- The selected link URL is sent to VirusTotal to retrieve an existing report or submit the URL for scanning.
- The user’s VirusTotal API key is sent only to VirusTotal as part of authenticated API requests.

Data stored locally:
- The VirusTotal API key is stored locally in Firefox extension storage on the user’s device.
- The extension also stores the most recent scan result locally so it can be shown in the popup.

Data sharing:
- No data is sent to the developer.
- No analytics, tracking, advertising, or third-party services are used other than VirusTotal.

User control:
- The extension only sends data after an explicit user action.
- Users can remove or change their saved API key at any time in the extension settings.
